Senior Year Checklist - Fall
- In August, either contact or search online for the colleges you wish to attend to have the applications sent to you or fill out the applications online. Be selective, as nearly all colleges charge a fee to process your application , and this can get expensive very fast.
- Talk with your class counselor to make sure you have all your credits in line to graduate.
- Take or retake the SAT exams in October, November, or December.
- Continue to check the scholarship website through the link on the Marcos de Niza homepage. Check this site often as scholarship opportunities continue to be posted throughout the semester.
- Order your graduation invitations and cap and gown when the companies are on campus.
- If you are planning a Early Decision/Action application, it is important to complete testing as early as possible.
- Early Decision is the term used to describe the application process in which the studetn makes a commitment to the institution where, if admitted, the student will enroll. Under this plan, the student will be required to pay a nonrefundable deposit well in advance of May 1st.
- Early Action application is the term used to describe the application process which permits a student to make an application to an institution of preference and receive a decision well in advance of the normal response dates in the spring. The student is not required to enroll at that institution or to make a commitment prior to May 1st. The student may apply to other colleges and has the luxury of waiting for their responses prior to making a decision.
- Apply to in-state universities before September 1st for the best scholarship chances.
- If you took college credits, remember, you will need to send transcripts from those colleges to the colleges to which you are applying. There is a fee involved to do this that ranges from $5 up.
