My name is Jacob Hansen and this year will be my sixth year as a teacher. I’m thrilled to be teaching at MPHS and consider this profession to be an honor and a privilege.

After graduating from Mountain Pointe in 1997, I went on to receive my B.A. in Psychology from Northern Arizona University. Following college, I spent a few years shuffling between sales and the helping professions until I was offered an opportunity to teach a 5th and 6th grade class of Emotionally Disabled students at Madison Meadows Middle School in 2002. It was there I discovered my love of teaching!

Following my first year teaching, I spent a year teaching Adult E.S.L. at the Friendly House in Phoenix, before enrolling in the MAED program at University of Phoenix. I successfully completed my Master’s program in November of last year.

For two and a half years I taught at Tempe Accelerated High School, a public charter school. While I enjoyed some aspects of the non-traditional approach to education, I still longed for the structure of a larger public school, hence my move to MPHS.

This is my second year teaching Freshman and Sophomore English at Mountain Pointe and I am also thrilled to be coaching Girls’ JV Soccer and Boys’ JV Volleyball once again. I am very excited about the opportunity to continue to learn and grow as a professional and as a part of the Pride!
